About Us.

Welcome to The Parndana Community Children’s Centre (PCCC). We are a not-for-profit, community-run organisation working to deliver childcare services to Kangaroo Island’s western district by establishing a 30-place childcare centre for children aged from six months to school age. We strive to make a difference to children’s learning and support family wellbeing, while contributing an integral service to Kangaroo Island’s local community.

Our Team.

Meet our Governing Council. A team of seven dedicated volunteers who are committed to delivering the new Parndana Community Children’s Centre.

Development.

In February 2021, we successfully obtained Local Economic Recovery Funding (LERF) of $1.8 million dollars to fund the construction of a new childcare facility in Parndana. Our application received resounding support from our community during the consultation phase and was marked as the number one priority from 18 potential projects. Our Governing Council have spent the last 12 months busily planning and designing the Centre with our architect while sharing our progress and consulting with the local community.

Benefits.

Currently, no local childcare service is accessible to families residing and working within this district, many of whom were significantly affected by the Black Summer Bushfires of 2019/20 and are undertaking rebuild and recovery activities. The delivery of this crucial service will have so many benefits for our community, including but not limited to:

- Increased early learning & social outcomes for school-aged children;

- Greater employment opportunities & economic growth in the region, through employment at the centre and providing the opportunity for parents to return to employment;

- Respite for carers, in particular, those who have no or limited support networks;

- A safe and inclusive environment for children, including those working alongside carers in bushfire recovery in unsafe farming and workplace settings.
